TITLE:  TRADE & COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST – IMPORT / EXPORT - MANUFACTURING

REPORTS TO:                             Logistics Manager

LOCATION:                             Albuquerque, New Mexico

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:           Six-Month Option to Hire or PERM/FULL TIME HIRE IMMEDIATELY

MUST BE  A USA CITIZEN OR GREEN CARD / PERMANENT RESIDENT

JOB DESCRIPTION

In this role, the individual will be responsible for establishing policy and coordinating activities for export and import regulatory compliance on a worldwide basis. The individual not only ensures adherence to import and export requirements, but is instrumental in increasing the speed of supply chain while decreasing risk and meeting the needs of a growing global customer base.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for setting policy and coordinating all activities involved in export/import regulatory compliance including, but not limited to, ECCN product classifications, harmonized tariff classifications, country of origin determination, product valuation reporting, export license applications, Automated Export System reporting, obtaining and reviewing end use statements for exports, and sanctioned party list screening.
  • Manage US Customs and Border Protection tradeprogram participation (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, Importer Self Assessment Program, etc.).
  • Interfaces with internal / external customers, foreign subsidiaries, distributors, vendors, brokers and carriers to ensure compliance with all applicable import / export regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining internal controls program to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of imported/exported products.
  • Determines product eligibility for multiple trade agreements and maintaining vendor dunning process.
  • Participates in continual improvement process related to Compliance Program and manages document revisions of internal controls and procedures.
  • Conducts periodic export and import self assessments (compliance audits) and implements any necessary corrective actions.
  • Interact with US Customs, Trade Authorities and present to Shipping Manager on trade compliance matters.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong collaboration with procurement, financial, tax, product marketing, logistics, order entry, and engineering functions is required.

  • Strong working knowledge of international business practices, transportation laws, and customs requirements
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP, desired.
  • Strong leadership skill set
  • Demonstrated ability to generate collaborative processes and integrate business solutions globally
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to solve problems in a dynamic environment.

Must be a team player and self starter; high bias toward action.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors in Business, Logistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Trade/Logistics experience required.
  • Practical experience applying US Customs regulations, US Export Administration Regulations and license requirements, to include SNAP-R submissions, required.

Experience in finance and auditing procedures desired.
